— Jack Block“As the Executive Petty Officer of Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor from June 2022 through June 2023, I had the opportunity to work closely with Ed Welter in both his roles as mayor and as a Grays Harbor County deputy. Throughout that time, Ed consistently demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and a deep commitment to public service.
Whenever our unit required law-enforcement guidance, Ed was the first person I called. His combined experience with the Coast Guard, Fish and Wildlife, and the County gave him a unique ability to navigate complex jurisdictional issues, and he always made himself available to support our operations. His steady presence, affable demeanor and practical expertise were invaluable to our mission.
As mayor, Ed played a key role in strengthening the relationship between Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor and the City of Westport. His leadership contributed to Westport being recognized as one of only 37 official Coast Guard Cities, a designation that reflects meaningful collaboration and sustained community support.
Ed understands the importance of working across agencies and levels of government to ensure the community receives effective representation and service. Based on my direct experience working with him, I can attest to his integrity, dedication, and commitment to the people of Grays Harbor County and cannot think of a better candidate for Grays Harbor County Sheriff.”

“As an employee of the Grays Harbor Sheriff’s Department from 1991 to 2013 I am aware of the many challenges that the “Sheriff” faces daily to ensure the citizens of Grays Harbor County feel safe and secure in conducting their daily activities. I have had contacts with Ed both while he was employed by WDFW (was boarded for inspection) and worked with Ed (as a deputy) regarding a nuisance property in the city limits of Westport. I quickly determined that Ed Welter was the “real deal”. He was very knowledgeable, courteous, professional, respectful, and his communication skills were spot on.
As the Mayor of Westport Ed conducts the Westport City Council meetings with great skill and is prepared to discuss issues and expects the same from the council. He is a team player and has been instrumental in making Westport better for its citizens.
Ed Welter is my choice for the next Sheriff of Grays Harbor County.”
— Bill Pelesky
“I have almost 15 years experience as a prosecutor and I support Ed Welter for Sheriff. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ed on a few complex cases during my time as a Deputy Prosecutor for Grays Harbor County.
Ed has a reputation as direct and transparent. I saw exactly that during my cases with him. He was clear with me and with victims and suspects. That clarity and transparency is what you need in law enforcement especially when so many examples of bad cops are popping up all over the country. Everyone has heard of trust but verify. We know that there are good cops, transparency is that verification.
I spent four years as the chief prosecutor for the City of Olympia, I know leadership and I know Ed can lead and is the leader Grays Harbor needs. In the end you want a Sheriff that is clear, honest, and open. I believe Ed has those traits and I encourage everyone to vote for him as Sheriff.”
— Tye Graham
“I proudly endorse Ed Welter as Sheriff for Grays Harbor County.
Having served in both the military and law enforcement, I understand what it takes to protect the public and earn the trust of the community. While serving as the Executive Officer of U.S. Coast Guard Station Grays Harbor, I worked with Ed and saw his commitment to public safety and public service firsthand.
Ed leads with integrity, treats people with respect, and always puts the community first. He works well with law enforcement partners, makes fair decisions, and leads with professionalism and accountability. These are the qualities our county needs in a sheriff.
Ed Welter has earned my vote for sheriff, and I am confident he will continue to serve our community with honor and work hard to keep our county safe.”
